Cesar Amescua, MD is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine. In addition, Dr. Cesar Amescua is the Medical Director at Hospital Angeles Tijuana.
At Hospital Angeles Tijuana, Dr. Amescua, treats a wide range of chronic pain conditions such as low back pain and neck pain, neuropathic pain, spinal cord stimulation, osteoporosis, persistent post-operative pain and complex regional pain syndrome (known before as reflex sympathetic dystrophy), uncommon form of intense chronic pain, failed back surgery syndrome and cancer pain.
Furthermore, Dr. Amescua, provides palliative care services and treatment to people who are living with, or affected by, serious or life-limiting illnesses.

Education & Training
Dr. Cesar Amescua studied medicine in Mexico City at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (National Autonomous University of Mexico), from 1974 to 1980.
Upon graduation of Medical School, he completed a two year internship and then specialized in Anesthesia at Hospital General de México (General Hospital of México).
He obtained his, two year, specialized residency training in Pain Management, at the Pain Clinic of Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia (National Cancer Institute) in Mexico City, from 1984 to 1986. He then, spent three more years as Pain Coordinator of the National Cancer Institute, until 1989.
He is a Professor of Pain Management at Universidad Autonoma de Baja California (Autonomous University of Baja California), School of Medicine.
Dr. Cesar Amescua has worked with cancer patients, and neuropathic pain patients for over 20 years and has participated in more than one hundred Medical Congresses as a guest speaker.
Dr. Amescua organized the Neuropathic Pain Satellite Meeting on behalf of the World Congress on Pain in San Diego, CA in 2002.
Dr. Amescua has published multiple articles in various medical journals and contributed several chapters to books on pain management.
Dr. Amescua is a past president of the Asociación Mexicana para el Estudio y Tratamiento del Dolor, A.C. (Mexican Association for the Study and Treatment of Pain).
